Outside Burning Ban Issued for Gaston County
Due to hazardous forest fire conditions, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture has issued a statewide burning until further notice. This ban cancels all existing burning permits and does not allow any open burning during this period.
In accordance with the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code, Section 307, the Gaston County Fire Marshal has prohibited any open burning in Gaston County, which includes areas within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling, until hazardous fire conditions improve and the state-wide burning ban is lifted. County Fire Departments will extinguish any outdoor fires once alerted.
This ban does not apply to fires in appliances, to include grills, ovens, pits, etc., that are specifically designed and used for the cooking of food for personal consumption so long as such fires are confined with an enclosure from which burning material may not escape.
