Gaston Names Tax Director
Gaston County Manager, Dr. Kim Eagle, announced the hiring of Mr. Cecil Jackson, RES, AAS as Gaston’s new Tax Director.
Mr. Jackson has worked in the Mecklenburg County Tax Office for more than 20 years, most recently as Real Property Appraisal Manager. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Appalachian State University and currently serves as the Chair of the Professional Development Committee for the International Association of Assessing Officers. Mr. Jackson recently received the 2019 Verne W. Pottorff, CAE, and Professional Designee of Year by Award from the International Association of Assessing Officers.
Dr. Eagle said “We are fortunate here in Gaston to have a strong Tax Department and we are pleased to have Mr. Jackson join our team. We are confident he will provide the leadership and excellent service our residents have come to expect.”
The Board of Commissioners will formalize Mr. Jackson’s appointment at their meeting September 24, 2019.
Mr. Jackson said, “I am honored to be given this opportunity. I am committed to being a good steward and will operate the office with full transparency. My wife and I are looking forward to joining the Gaston community.”
Mr. Jackson’s first day will be October 7, 2019.
Mr. Jackson replaces Mr. Jimmy Tanner who retired in July.
