Gaston Names New County Manager
Gastonia – The Gaston County Board of Commissioners announced today the hiring of Dr. Kim Eagle. Dr. Eagle currently serves as an Assistant City Manager with the City of Charlotte.
Dr. Eagle holds a Masters of Public Administration from Appalachian State University and a Ph.D. of Philosophy from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Eagle is a dedicated and committed public servant who has worked for the City of Charlotte for 24 years and has a breadth of operational, administrative and leadership experience.
Gaston County Board of Commissioners Chairman, Tracy Philbeck said the decision to hire Dr. Eagle was unanimous. “I look forward to working with Dr. Eagle. This is a ground breaking opportunity for her as Gaston County’s first female County Manager. Dr. Eagle has extensive knowledge and understanding of our challenges and shares the values of our Board and community.”
Dr. Eagle said she is “extremely honored to serve as Gaston County’s next county manager. I am very appreciative to the Board of Commissioners for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to working with citizens, staff, and the Board of Commissioners to build on the County’s past success to ensure we provide excellent services and promote a high quality of life for our residents. husband, Keith have 3 school age children.
The Board of Commissioners will formalize Dr. Eagle’s appointment during a special meeting Thursday, June 20th at 6:00 in the Gaston County Courthouse with a reception to follow.
Dr. Eagle’s first day will be August 5th. She will have a starting salary of $212,500.
