Animal Care and Enforcement is Implementing Appointment Based Surrender for Owners
Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement is implementing appointment based pet surrender for owners looking to relinquish their pets to the animal shelter. The Division is dedicated to improving the services for citizens surrendering a pet while effectively managing the admission of pets into the Gaston County Animal Shelter.
With this admission process, Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement will be able to provide resources to support and assist citizens who are faced with relinquishment of a pet and improve our level of service through a more streamlined and organized process. The appointment based intake process will allow the improved care and positive outcomes of pets through managed pet population and by minimizing overcrowding in the shelter.
Animal Care and Enforcement will begin scheduling pet surrender appointments on Thursday, August 2, 2018 between 1 pm and 3 pm. The shelter will continue first come first serve surrenders on Tuesdays from 1 pm until 3 pm until August 28, 2018. On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, the shelter will fully transition to appointment only surrenders on Tuesday and Thursdays from 1 pm -3 pm.
