Chelsea Tarbush is the Tax Director for the Gaston County Tax Department. Chelsea joined Gaston County in 2016 and has over 14 years of experience in State and Local Government.
Chelsea holds an associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies and is currently enrolled in Western Carolina to obtain her bachelor’s in Business Administration and Law. Chelsea holds a North Carolina Real Estate License, North Carolina State Bar Paralegal Certification (NCCP), certification through the North Carolina Department of Revenue in both Real and Personal Property Appraisal, and an Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS) Designation through the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). Chelsea was awarded employee of the year in 2018 for being instrumental in implementing the In Rem Foreclosure Program. She also assisted the Tax Office in achieving the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration Designation through IAAO, which is the highest professional honor an assessment jurisdiction can obtain.
Chelsea serves on multiple committees and boards such as the professional development committee for IAAO, the technology committee for NCAAO, and the advisory board for SECU. Chelsea resides in Gaston County with her husband and both are natives of the county.
