Suzanne Mauney-Smith, a native of Gaston County, currently serves the citizens of Gaston County as an Assistant Police Chief with the Gaston County Police Department. She attended Appalachian State University and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 1994 and her Master of Public Administration in 2007. Suzanne is a graduate of the FBI National Academy - Session 263. While at the Academy she earned a Graduate Certificate of Achievement in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia.
Suzanne has been a sworn law enforcement officer with the Gaston County Police Department since March of 1996 and has served in the following areas; Community Police Officer, Detective, Community Police Sergeant, Special Investigations (Vice/Narcotics) Sergeant, Internal Affairs, Community Police Captain, Special Investigations Captain, Support Services Captain.
Suzanne currently serves on the North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission as a Senate Appointment.
