[ARCHIVED] Gaston County Police FAST Team Arrests Federal Fugitive

On Friday, 5/5/23, the Gaston County Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension and Suspect Tracking (FAST) team located Muhammad Abdur-Rahim in the area of the McAdenville Road in Belmont, NC.  Abdur-Rahim was wanted on federal charges for Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.  Abdur-Rahim was out on bond for pending charges out of Iredell County for Possession of Firearm by a Felon, Fleeing to Elude Arrest, Trafficking Fentanyl, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Government Official.  Due to Abdur-Rahim’s criminal history and the severity of his warrants, FAST team requested assistance from the Gaston County Emergency Response Team (ERT).  ERT and FAST team members were able to safely apprehend Abdur-Rahim without incident.  During a search of Abdur-Rahim’s vehicle, an additional 2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine was seized.  Abdur-Rahim was served with his outstanding federal arrest warrants as well as new charges for trafficking methamphetamine.  Abdur-Rahim is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail with no bond.
