[ARCHIVED] UPDATE, 1:45 AM, April 19: Police Searching for Suspected Shooter

GASTONIA, N.C. – Gaston County Police, along with assistance from multiple local law enforcement agencies is searching for a 24-year-old man following a shooting Tuesday night.

Police are searching for Robert Louis Singletary, who is suspected of shooting two people in the 4700 block of Grier Street south of the Gastonia city limits.

Two people were shot and transported to Caromont Medical Center. One was in serious condition and the other in stable condition.

Gaston County Police Chief Stephen Zill asked the community in the immediate area surrounding the neighborhood to stay indoors and call 911 if they see anything suspicious. Singletary was last seen with a gun, and should be considered armed and dangerous. 

Singletary is 6 feet, 2 inches tall with brown eyes and black hair, weighing approximately 223 pounds.

UPDATE, 1:45 AM, April 19

During the course of the investigation, police determined one adult male and one juvenile were seriously wounded.  Both were transported to a Charlotte hospital for further treatment.   An adult female was grazed by a bullet during the shooting and a second adult male was shot at but not injured.   Their names are not being released at this time.  

Gaston County Police have obtained warrants on Robert Louis Singletary for his involvement in the shooting.  Mr. Singletary has been charged with 4 counts of attempted 1st degree murder, 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflecting serious injury and 1 count of possession of a firearm by a felon.  Mr. Singletary remains at large.  

The Gaston County Police encourage citizens in the area to remain vigilant and report any sightings of Mr. Singletary to the Gaston County Communications Center.  Citizens can call 911 or 704-866-3300.  Citizens should not approach Mr. Singletary or attempt to apprehend him.

The investigation is on-going at this time.   Anyone with further information is asked to contact Det. J. Brienza at 704-866-3320 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.   A Crimestoppers reward of up to $1,000 is available for information pertinent to the investigation.  There is no further information available at this time.

Tiroteo - April Drive - Condado de Gaston

Durante el curso de la investigación, la policía determinó que un hombre adulto y un menor de edad resultaron gravemente heridos. Ambos fueron transportados a un hospital en Charlotte para recibir tratamiento adicional. Una mujer adulta fue rozada por una bala durante el tiroteo y un Segundo hombre adulto recibió un disparo pero no resultó herido. Sus nombres no se dan a conocer en este momento.

La policía del condado de Gaston obtuvo órdenes de arresto contra Robert Louis Singletary por su participación en el tiroteo. El Sr. Singletary ha sido acusado de 4 cargos de intento de asesinato enprimer grado, 2 cargos de asalto con un arma mortal con la intención de matar causando lesions graves y 1 cargo de posesión de un arma de fuego por un delincuente. El Sr. Singletary sigue prófugo.
