This is your opportunity to ask about deeds, vital records and recording of legal documents.
The Honorable Susan Lockridge, Register of Deeds for Gaston County, will present a program at the Brevard Station Museum about the Register of Deeds office. She has served as register of Deeds since 2004, and has been with the Register of Deeds office since 1986. She has served as President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and historian with the North Carolina Association of registers of Deeds.
The Register of Deeds office is the official repository for legal documents in each county, including deeds, vital records, birth and death records, marriage licenses, military discharges, passports, recording of business names and much more. Every deed for property in Gaston County can be traced back to 1848 when Gaston County was formed from Lincoln County.
