Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

"Promoting and celebrating our differences...Ensuring fairness and equal treatment...And creating a sense of belonging...one conversation at a time."

The purpose of the Gaston County Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is to reinforce the Board of Commissioners and County Manager’s commitment to creating a more equitable Gaston County by creating a welcoming and respectful environment for all Gaston County employees and residents—regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, and socio-economic status.

The DEI Officer provides counsel on matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as works with County departments, business partners, and community organizations to eliminate institutional and structural barriers that restrict access to products and services to disadvantaged and underserved communities.
