Gaston County Police Deploy to Coastal North Carolina
On September 18, 2018, thirteen Gaston County Police Officers left for New Bern, NC as part of the relief effort following Hurricane Florence.
This deployment of resources was coordinated at the request of the New Bern Police Department through the North Carolina Police Chief’s Association and Chief J. D. Ramey. The individual officers were selected in a manner so as to minimize the impact to Gaston County Police daily operations. All expenses incurred will be reimbursed by FEMA.
Officers will provide a police patrol function alongside New Bern PD Officers through Sunday night and are expected to return home Monday evening, September 24, 2018.
Separate from this effort, Gaston County Police already delivered 210 sleeping cots and 200 blankets to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, at their request, on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Their request was statewide and organized by Chris Hagwood of the North Carolina FBI National Academy Associates organization.
