Gaston County Police Investigate Homicide
On 08/28/2011at 11:19 pm the Gaston County Police Communications Center received a 911 call in reference to an unresponsive 34 year old female at 129 Midwood Ln., Belmont, NC. Upon arrival it was determined by first responders that the victim, Christina McCall (2/16/77), had died of a gunshot wound.

Health Department, Animal Control Division to Host Free Drive-Through Rabies Clinic Sept. 17
Staff from the Gaston County Health Department and the Animal Control Division of the Gaston County Police Department will offer free one-year rabies vaccines to the first 200 cats or dogs of Gaston County residents in line Saturday morning, Sept. 17. The event is sponsored by the Gaston Humane Society.
Gaston County Chairman of the Board Wins Statewide Award
Gaston County Chairman of the Board Donnie Loftis was named winner of the Outstanding County Commissioner Award for 2010-11 by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) during its 104th Annual Conference, which was held Aug. 18-21 in Cabarrus County. Chairman Loftis is the first commissioner from Gaston County to win the award.

Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Public Funding Announcement
The Lincoln, Cleveland, and Gaston County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council are providing notice of a funding opportunity through the 2011 Session of the North Carolina General Assembly which required the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention through Session Law 2011-391 to expend funds to serve high-risk adjudicated youth.
