MEMORANDUM

TO:  Inspectors and Permit Facilitators

FROM:  Ken Jackson, Building Inspections Administrator

SUBJECT:  Inspection Time Inquiries

If a customer who has a scheduled inspection on that day calls a Permit Facilitator to find out when the inspector will be on the jobsite, the procedure will be as follows:

The Permit Facilitator will either put the caller on hold or take a phone number from the caller and tell them we will call back shortly (whichever is more convenient for the Permit Facilitator) with an answer.  We will contact the inspector to see when his schedule will take him to the job being inquired about.  The inspector will give a two (2) hour window (i.e. between noon and 2:00, 1:00 and 3:00, etc.) and the Permit Facilitator will relay that to the customer.  If the customer just wants a call ahead of time (30 minutes to one hour) and neglected to request it when scheduling the inspection, we will take a number and give it to the inspector who will make the call at the appropriate time.

We will not give the customer any more than a two hour “window”.  If that is not satisfactory, they will need to pay for an “on-time” inspection.  The Permit Facilitator should always get a call back number so if the inspector gets unavoidably delayed and cannot make the two hour “window” he can call and let the customer know.
