Police Arrest Man After Standoff
On April 11, 2019, officers of the Gaston County Police Department investigated a reported kidnapping and assault. After a thorough investigation, several felony criminal charges were obtained against the suspect, Christopher Donald Hibberts, 27 years old.
On Monday April 23, 2019, Hibberts was tracked down to a residence in the 1700 block of Old Spencer Mountain Rd, Dallas, NC. Gaston County Police K9 Officers attempted to confront Hibberts, but he ran to the residence and barricaded himself inside. Many attempts to get Hibberts to comply with police commands were unsuccessful. The Gaston County Police Emergency Response Team responded and tried multiple methods to get him to come outside. Hibberts would not surrender and after approximately five hours, forceful entry was made into his residence. Hibberts was located in a hiding place and then arrested without any injury to him or officers. Hibberts was taken to the Gaston County Jail and served with multiple warrants, to include 2nd Degree Kidnapping, Break and Enter to Terrorize or Injure, Assault on a Female, Assault by Pointing a Gun, and Interfere with Emergency Communication (911). He is currently being held without bond.
