Police Make Arrest in Facebook Threats to Local High School
Gaston County Police have charged Shiquan Eleek Ratchford, age 17, of 1026 W. Seventh Ave. Gastonia, NC with two misdemeanor counts Disorderly Conduct by Disrupting Students, one count of misdemeanor Cyber Stalking and one felony count of Making a False Report Concerning Mass Violence on Educational Property.
On Wednesday, January 3, 2018 Gaston County Police received a report of threats being made to Hunter Huss High School via Facebook. Gaston County Police in conjunction with the Gastonia Police Department were able to identify the Facebook account used to make the threats, culminating in the arrest of Shiquan Eleek Ratchford just past midnight on January 4, 2018. Ratchford is currently in the Gaston County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond. Ratchford is a former student at Hunter Huss High School.
The Gaston County School System Administration was also involved in the investigation from the onset.
