Police Arrest Suspect for Burning Mobile Home
Gaston County Police have made an arrest as the result of the intentional burning of a mobile home that occurred on September 20, 2017. Charges were also made for the burning of an automobile that was involved in a pursuit with the suspect in the early morning hours of September 21, 2017.
Christopher Brannon Watkins, 26, of 110 Landau Cr. Dallas, NC is charged with Fraudulent Burning of a Dwelling Home, Burning Personal Property, and Felony Flee to Elude. Watkins is in custody at the Gaston County Jail on a $100,000.00 secured bond.
Police responded to a fire at 110 Landau Cr. on the evening of September 20, 2017 and discovered that a domestic situation had occurred and police were told the home was set on fire by Watkins as a result. Watkins fled the scene prior to police arrival. There were no persons inside the home at the time of the fire as Watkins’ spouse had collected belongings and children and left the home prior to the fire.
Watkins was discovered by police in the early morning hours of September 21, 2017 at another location in Gaston County. A vehicle pursuit with Watkins resulted. Watkins eventually stopped the vehicle he was driving and surrendered on Bessemer City Rd. near Myrtle Ave in Gastonia. Watkins set fire to the vehicle involved in the pursuit during his surrender.
