Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement is responsible for the care of the lost and unwanted animals in Gaston County. We work hard to ensure that their stay at the shelter is as comfortable and stress free as possible. While county funding helps to cover administration and maintenance costs, the ever-changing number of animals brought to our facility creates a demand that can be difficult to keep up with and may decrease the amount available for the supplies needed for the comfort of the animals. We are always grateful and in need of donations for our residents. Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement has several ways you can help with the shelter pets.
Pet Supply Donations
We accept pet supply donations such as much needed items to our shelter such as cat litter, puppy/kitten food, and blankets. Many groups and individuals have set up donation drives such as Operation Christmas Pet and Mutts in Rutts to raise awareness and contributions for our four-legged guests. Your supplies donation can help provide comfort and health to our animal friends.

Many people wish to help the animals in the community and in the shelter through monetary donations. Animal Care and Enforcement have 2 donation funds that help the animals of Gaston County.
- Shelter Animal Medical Fund: Many animals that enter the shelter have medical conditions that require expensive treatments such as chronic skin conditions, heartworm disease, and embedded collars. Donations assist the shelter to fund programs such as our “Full Hearts Program” that allows suitable heartworm positive dogs to be treated for the deadly heartworm disease while being fostered by their future family and assist in providing care for the many neglected animals that enter the shelter.
- Spay/Neuter program for low income citizens: Gaston County has a partnership with several of the veterinary clinics in Gaston County to offer spay or neuter for family pets of citizens that fall below the poverty level at no cost to the family. This program allows the families to keep their pets while preventing unwanted litters.
Animal Care and Enforcement appreciates any and all donations that we receive and promise to ensure they go to the care and comfort of the animals in our protection. You can donate using our PayPal account or can send the donation to Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement, PO Box 479, Dallas, NC 28034.
We thank you for your compassion and love for the unwanted animals of Gaston County.
