On 04/05/2012 the Gaston County Police Department responded to a reported robbery at the PNC Gastonia-South bank, 3707 S. New Hope Rd Gastonia, NC. Bank employees stated that a male, armed with a handgun, entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. The male then exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on foot. Officers with the State Highway Patrol, Lowell, Cramerton and Gastonia Police Departments assisted in searching for the suspect. Two suspects were apprehended a short distance from the bank. The suspects were identified as Jalen Christopher Davidson age 18 and Kevin Lee Long Jr age 19, both of Gastonia, NC. Both suspects were arrested and charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. Kevin Long received an additional charge for Possession of a Firearm by Felon. A third male was detained but later released with no charges being filed.
