On March 12, 2012 Gaston County Police Department 911 Center received a report of a burglar alarm in progress call from an alarm monitoring company for a home in the 300 block of Mariposa Rd. just outside Stanley, NC. While officers were responding to this call, a second call came in from the area, this time from the resident of a home in the 700 block of Mariposa Road. The caller stated his wife was at home alone and someone was trying to break in while she was still inside. The caller also reported that a white pickup truck operated by a white female was at the residence at that time.
As Gaston County Police officers responded to the scene the pickup truck left but was stopped by a
Stanley Police officer on Airport Rd. near the intersection of Charles Raper Jonas Highway (NC 27). The female in the truck was identified as Belinda Denise Wood, W/F, DOB 6/18/1964. Ms. Wood was subsequently arrested on an outstanding larceny warrant and was also charged with Breaking, Entering, and Larceny from the residence in the 300 block of Mariposa Rd. and Breaking and Entering from the residence in the 700 block.
Police officers set up a perimeter and a County Police K-9 team responded and tracked a second female suspect through the woods to a location near where the first suspect was arrested. Evidence indicates the second suspect, described as white female in her 30 or 40’s, got into another vehicle and left the area.
Gaston County Police ask that anyone having information as to the identity of the second suspect please call Gaston County Police at 704-866-3310 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.
