On Tuesday July 8th, 2014 the Gaston County Police Department Animal Control Division received a call from the Ranlo Police Department in regards to a citizen that had been bitten by a fox while walking on a nature trail.

Animal Control to Conduct Neighborhood Canvass

Beginning on Monday, August 27, 2012, the Gaston County Police Department Animal Control Division will begin a neighborhood canvassing initiative in the area of W. Rankin and N. Ransom Streets in Gastonia. Research of crime analysis data from April through June 2012 indicated that this area had the highest number of reported complaints and Animal Control investigations in the county during that period.

Gaston County Has 8th Reported Case of Rabies

On Monday November 21st 2011, the Gaston County Police Department Animal Control Division received a call from Scott Simpson of Eastwood Dr. in Belmont. Mr. Simpson reported his dog and a stray dog had attacked and killed a raccoon on his property. Animal Control impounded the stray and verified Mr. Simpson’s dog was current on its rabies vaccination.

Gaston County Reports Sixth Positive Rabies Case

On Monday, September 19th, 2011 the Gaston County Police Department Animal Control Division received a call from Ms. Judy Waters of Bessemer City who reported a skunk had attacked her son’s dog. Ms. Waters’ brother-in-law killed the skunk and Ms. Waters contacted Animal Control.

Gaston County Reports 5th Rabies Case

On Wednesday September 7th, 2011, Sam Kiser who lives in the 1900 block of Tryon Courthouse Road in Bessemer City brought in a raccoon carcass to the Animal Control Division. Mr. Kiser reported that a stray dog had been exposed to the raccoon on his property. Animal Control has therefore impounded the dog.

Gaston County Police Department’s Animal Control Division Enters the Adoption Phase of the ASPCA $100K Challenge

For the next three months, the Gaston County Police Department Animal Control Division will be participating in the Adoption Phase of this year’s ASPCA Grant Challenge. The Department will be competing for grants totaling $300,000 from the ASPCA, including a top prize of $100,000.

On Monday, June 20th, 2011 the Gaston County Police Department Animal Control Division received a call from Darren Wells, who lives on Acapulco Dr. in Gastonia concerning a raccoon that had attacked his dog. Mr. Wells had killed the raccoon and then contacted Animal Control.
