The Gaston County Police Department is currently taking applications for the 39th Session of its Citizens’ Police Academy. This Citizens’ Police Academy will be presented in eight sessions to be held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Class dates for this session are September 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and November 6, 13. The graduation ceremonies will be held on November 20.
The Citizens’ Police Academy will introduce participants to the various functions of the County Police Department topics to include Crime Scene Search, Vice, Criminal Investigations, Recruiting, Emergency Response Team, Marine Unit, Crime Analysis, K-9, Patrol, Communications Division, Animal Control Division, School Resource and the Bomb Squad.
Participation in the Citizen Police Academy is free and is open to adults and high school juniors and seniors.
Applications can be picked up at County Police Headquarters located at 420 W. Franklin Blvd. Gastonia or at the Bessemer City Sub Station located at 132 W. Virginia Ave. Bessemer City. Applications are also available on the department’s website www.gastoncountypolice.org. Applications will be accepted through September 21, 2012.
