Dear Senior Health & Fitness Day Supporter:

Gaston County Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce that the Annual Senior Health & Fitness Day will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Gaston County Senior Center in Dallas from 10:00AM – 12:00 PM.  The fun walk will begin at 9:00am so please encourage seniors to come out and participate in the walk.  We will be providing lunch at 12:00 for the seniors and our vendors.  After lunch we will be doing a photo scavenger hunt.  Our theme this year is “Never too old to Play”.  We are looking forward to having a good time with this year’s theme.  The scavenger hunt will take them all over our park while taking pictures of different areas in the park.  We are planning on having nice prizes to entice the seniors to take part in the action.  We will also provide free play in the Senior Center for those who do not want to participate in the scavenger hunt.

We need your assistance in making our senior adults aware of all the other health and fitness opportunities available for them in our area.  Whether it is health screenings, exercise programs, information on nutrition, medication, or any services that will benefit our senior adults, we want you to be present at the Senior Health & Fitness Day.  We would like this event to allow our senior adults to have access to information regarding “health & fitness”- which will able them better quality of life.  It is hard to believe all that is offered in Gaston County and our seniors just do not know about the services.  Our program plans include health screenings, educational booths, demonstrations, healthy lunch and lots of free give-a-way items.  We are expecting over 250 senior adults to participate in this year’s event.  It is our hope that the community will participate and promote the trend of active living and healthy lifestyles that reflects today’s senior population.

To ensure your participation in this year’s event, please complete the exhibitors’ form (2012 Senior Health and Fitness Application) and return it before May 21, 2012.  The department has had many requests from new exhibitors who did not participate in last year’s event and we want to ensure that our faithful supporters are given the first opportunity for participation.  We are also requesting that exhibitors be specific on which screenings and tests that they will be performing, so we will not have any duplication.  We will provide one table and the amount of chairs requested by each supporter, so just note the number on the form.  Electricity is available if needed as well.

I hope your organization will be able to participate in the Annual Gaston County Parks & Recreation’s Senior Health & Fitness Day.   This is a great opportunity to showcase services and programs that are offered by businesses, organizations and councils in this area for senior adults.  Thank you for your time and I hope you will choose to be a part of our program in what promises to be a fun and informative day for our area’s senior population!  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Ellen Fenters
