2009 Gaston County Clash
Gaston County Parks and Recreation, along with Gaston County Travel and Tourism sponsored the “Gaston County Clash”, a leg of the HP Pro Tour, at George Poston Park during the weekend of April 25-26, 2009. Contestants competed in preliminary rounds on Saturday, with the finals at 10:00 on Sunday. The Gaston County Clash was the second of six tour events scheduled for the 2009 season. Other events will be held in Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
The Horseshoe Pitching Professional Tour consists of over 50 players that are among the best in the sport. Their ranks include 7 current and former World Champions, who have combined to win a total of 24 World titles. They hail from 13 different states ranging from Florida to Maine, and Maryland to California, and include 22 current and former State Champions in their respective states. Altogether, they have amassed an impressive 161 State titles. Many HP Pro Tour members have been recognized for their contributions to the sport, 11 having been inducted into the Hall Of Fame of their respective states, and 2 members to the National Hall of Fame.
